Women Entrepreneurship
in the Adriatic and Ionian Area
The Forum Association of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce was set up in 2001 through a protocol of intention between the Chamber of Commerce of Ancona and the Chamber of the Economy of Split with the aim of promoting the economic development of the Adriatic area, strengthening business contacts between chambers in the two cross-border countries, promoting administrative and legal cooperation through the harmonization of procedures between countries, facilitating comparison and dialogue between different chambers and spreading entrepreneurial culture through the involvement of all players acting on the territory.
The association comprises today 37 chambers of commerce, which face the Adriatic Sea on both shores and meet every year in one of the Forum member countries, i.e. Italy, Croatia, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Greece and Albania.
The Forum is organized around six traditional thematic workgroups: agriculture, the environment, women entrepreneurship, fisheries and aquaculture, transport and tourism. These workgroups offer selected opportunities for an exchange of ideas and experiences between various players, thereby laying the foundations for future cooperation agreements on topics that aim at the integrated development of the Adriatic and Ionian area.
Within the AIC Forum, the Workgroup on Women Entrepreneurship pursues as its main objective the promotion and development of women enterprises in the countries member to the AIC Forum.
This project aims at fully exploiting the potential of the Internet to provide member enterprises a series of services that can be useful for purposes of cooperation and the development of Women Entrepreneurship.
